Whew, just completed another new build. I continued with another 130 sized build to keep a couple of the smaller quads in the fleet. I actually tore apart an older Airblade Assault to build this one. I really liked\u00a0the Owl camera from RunCam for a small 130 build as it extends the flying ability into the night! It’s not the best for day flying, but I think it is better than many of the smaller pico\/micro sized cameras (although larger and heavier).\u00a0This build did add a few new elements I have not tried before (SirinFPV Flight Controller, FVT LittleBee Pro 4-in-1 ESC, and the AirBladeX 130) below I go into each of them in a little bit more detail!.<\/p>\n

SirinFPV Flight Controller<\/h3>\n

This is going to quickly become the go-to for flight controllers! This flight controller features a STM32F3 processor, a integrated OSD, Blackbox SD Card port, \u00a0and an integrated video transmitter. It runs Betaflight and will soon be in the upcoming builds by default. It uses VCP so you still have access to all UART ports without interference with USB. Since Betaflight 2.6.1 and up you can run ESC pass-through on VCP! The OSD is pretty minimal, but that’s what you want in a racing quad. \u00a0The SirinFPV features the MPU6500 gyro\/accel and is connected via SPI so it supports 8khz\\8khz mode! It has the capability to run 6 motors aswell. The OSD and VTX are accessible via CLI, and the VTX can change the channels via OSD. It does require a 5v 1amp power supply!<\/p>\n

FVT LittleBee Pro 20A 4in1<\/h3>\n

F396 SiLab chipset, 5v 1amp out. What else is there to ask for? Oh yeah BLHeli_S would have been nice, but I’ll take what I can get. Honestly joking aside, this is a very good esc combo, it does what it needs. It isn’t future proof as BLheli_S ESC’s are but there currently aren’t any 4in1 BLHeli_S ESC’s. It provides a good powerful 5v at 1amp and from my testing it ran everything\u00a0I asked it to (Sirin, Receiver).<\/p>\n

AirBladeX 130<\/h3>\n

I wanted an X Frame but without the camera pod using the flight controller mounting holes. For a 130 size frame this is very uncommon…. to be honest I can’t think of a 130 that doesn’t use the FC stack for the camera pod other than the AirbladeX 130. The mounting screws for the camera pod are rotated 45 degrees so they are right in the middle of the other boards area. The frame is well thought out and has a nice layout and plenty of mounting space thanks to the two “top plates”. I replaced the screws in the kit with titanium screws to save a tad weight, and I put motor skids on it to help protect it.<\/p>\n
